Saurian Devlog #40

Here it comes

Since last DevLog our programming team have been in 100% patch mode, and it is getting really close, so nothing from them again this week. The art book is still on schedule as well, and you will hear a little about that in this unintentionally Triceratops-themed DevLog.

This week I spent some time updating the male Triceratops concept art from a ways back. This included repainting all of the heads as well as minor touch ups throughout. The horns are now longer and the faces are largely covered in keratin with smooth transitions into the horns. The horn length has also been extended as it seems most keratin bearing structures like horns and claws have a minimum of 20% extra keratin length beyond the bone core. You might also notice that the juvenile stage has been color shifted to be a better transitional form between the hatchling and sub adult. With the longer horns, this cool cat is ready to save the kids.

This week I started work on the high-poly sculpts for the trike ontogeny now that the concept work has been completed. Most of it went smoothly save for that horrifying little hatchling. More polish needs to be done before these are considered final. It will probably be a while before these are released in-game, but having the sculpts complete goes a long way towards implementing the trike as a playable creature.

Triceratops subadult. Get used to looking at this, it'll be the most common form of trike in the final game.
